Tribute to the King of Rock and Fleece

Yes, after two evenings and an early, early morning, I finished a fleece jacket for my father using this pattern from 1999.

Since my father is a big Elvis fan, I thought I sew him a jacket made out of Elvis themed fleece.

Modifications:
I did not follow the directions for attachment of the zipper. Instead of stitching it onto the front of the jacket after basting, I attached the hood and the front facings. Then I stitched the zipper to the jacket while stitching the sides of the facing (I remember doing this on a McCall's fleece jacket years ago). Therefore, there was no visible stitching of the zipper from the front of the jacket. The directions said to slip stitch the facing to the front. I worried that the front facings would detach from the jacket after only a few wearings!

I used the same technigue as I had done with Heather's jacket from a McCall's pattern (I made this when she was an infant and now it fits her).

Conclusion
My dad will have not a blue Christmas, but a "hound dog" of a Christmas wearing his favorite performer!

Nice picture of Elvis in 1963
