Sunrise and Moon Walking and Striped Out Sewing with Burda 6820

Exercise? Making time is essential and the best time me for months now is walking in the early morning (before 6am) and to appreciate what life has to offer within my neighborhood, all within a mile radius from my home.

With a little help from my facemasks.

A neighbor about a 1/2 mile away, fast asleep

Gorgeous clouds overlooking a highway and over a local church .

Next to our neighborhood mall - transit bridge

A Saturday morning Moon walk all within an hour

Now making the transition from morning walks to fashion trends and sewing a new top.

Animal prints are still en vogue. My mother and I'm certain that many others are not fond of animal prints. But I will wear such wild prints over fur any time.

I nearly purchased the top on the left from BostonProper.com.  The one on the right is sold out.  What stopped me from completing checkout was the uncertainty how the top would fit.  It is tricky purchasing clothing on-line. SEW, guess what I decided to do?

No doubt this top was truly easy to sew!  This is one of my recent pattern acquisitions. I need to stop going to JoAnn's because most likely I will buy a pattern on sale.  But just my luck, the top on the right was what I was looking for.

Pattern Description:                                                                                                Misses' fitted knit tops

Pattern Sizing:
Size 6-20. Upon looking at the pattern and based upon the nature of my fabric, I sized up to a 12 from my usual 10. I typically wear a petite medium.

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Very much so, except that my neckline as I have seen on tops sewn by other is not as wide as the top worn by the models.

Were the instructions easy to follow?
Yes, although I did not use them. It appears that it is missing the more directions on finishing the lower edge of the top. There was a only one sheet front and back, where the the bottom third of the back page was blank. Maybe it was meant to be that way, a missing page, or a printer's error?

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I like the overall fit with a flattering silhouette along with the simplicity and the versatility in style as shown from the lengths of the 3 versions of this top.

No doubt the sleeves were long for the long-sleeved version! They came much longer than expected. My arms are of average length (more suited for a woman who is 5'5") and the length seems to be tailored for those with long arms.

Fabric Used:
Cotton poly blend knit from JoAnn's.

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
My typical petite adjustment at the waist and narrowing of the center back

Sewed the sleeves in "flat" instead of setting them in.

Sewed the neckband to the wrong side, turned it over to the outside and topstitched the edge.

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Yes. It is now one of my "go-to" patterns just like my trustworthy Sewaholic Renfrew.

Conclusion:
Cool pattern to showcase the print of a fabric.

Next project, hemming my daughter's jeans that she she BOUGHT ONLINE......
Now the trend is "baggier" jeans.
