A Simple Denim Jacket

Some features of Chadwick's seamed suede jacket

can be compared to Simplicity's 4280

I finally completed it today and wore it when Heather and I went to the JoAnn's on Midway Drive:

Tribute to the King of Rock and Fleece

Yes, after two evenings and an early, early morning, I finished a fleece jacket for my father using this pattern from 1999.

Since my father is a big Elvis fan, I thought I sew him a jacket made out of Elvis themed fleece.

Modifications:
I did not follow the directions for attachment of the zipper. Instead of stitching it onto the front of the jacket after basting, I attached the hood and the front facings. Then I stitched the zipper to the jacket while stitching the sides of the facing (I remember doing this on a McCall's fleece jacket years ago). Therefore, there was no visible stitching of the zipper from the front of the jacket. The directions said to slip stitch the facing to the front. I worried that the front facings would detach from the jacket after only a few wearings!

I used the same technigue as I had done with Heather's jacket from a McCall's pattern (I made this when she was an infant and now it fits her).

Conclusion
My dad will have not a blue Christmas, but a "hound dog" of a Christmas wearing his favorite performer!

Groovy Pants

Wow!

What groovy and wild flared pants!

UK website

Inspiration
Cher

and Marcia Brady, of course!

I finally made a pair of pants from this pattern

My pattern envelope:

Alice Olivia Pants Inspiration (striped pants on left):

The pants would definitely fit me better if I lose at least five pounds (from my tummy, of course)!

Here's the pants lying flat:

Here's the pants hanging:

Yesterday, while Heather and I were trying some clothes at a Fashion Bug dressing room, I snapped this photo of me wearing these pants for the first time!

60's Retro Looking Jacket

I confess I am a addicted to retro/mod fashions.

I just created this McCall's 5007 cropped jacket.

The distinctive feature is that wide collar. But not as wide as the one in this 60's jumper dress:

I just found this fantastic website on fashions by the decade:
http://www.fashion-era.com/1960s/1960s_1_fashion_pictures_1960_1963.htm

The collar has more of this feature as seen in an
early 60's jacket a la Jackie Kennedy, in addition to the 3/4 length sleeves.

Here's my plaid version:

I am all smiles about this!

Current versions from Nordy's:

BCBG Max Azria for $138:

Mac & Jac Swing Coat for $98:

Robert Rodriguez's Plaid Jacket for $583! Silly!

From Nordy's:

Not a bad price, $38, for this Coco & Chase jacket. But really short for me to wear with my body type!
